Common linden. Seeds. Tilia cordata. H 25m. Good nectar plant. Ornamental tree.

Summer green, medium to large (height up to 25 m) tree of the linden family.
Can also be shrub-like. Bark smooth, dark gray, grooved on older trees. Wood soft. Crown broad. Shoots are produced when pruned. Buds oval. Leaves entire, alternate on branches, broadly ovate (l, w 2-8 cm), margin toothed, tip pointed, base asymmetrically heart-shaped. Stem length is approximately half the length of the leaf blade.

Common linden grows in forests, on river banks, on lake islands. It is also grown on roadsides and near settlements

Tufts of rusty hairs in the corners of the veins on the underside of the leaf. Flowers in a peculiar two-stemmed raceme, with the inflorescence axis half fused with a lanceolate (length 3-7 cm, width 1-1.5 cm), yellowish-white bract.

Flowers pale yellow, sepals quickly fall off. Flowers very fragrant, many stamens per flower (about 15-40). Fruit - a faceted and hairy, round (length about 0.7 cm) nut. Blooms in June and July.

Linden flowers contain essential oils, saponins, glycosides, tannins, ascorbic acid, polysaccharides (mucilages). Linden flower tea has long been used as a diaphoretic, antipyretic. It lowers blood pressure and blood clotting, improves sleep quality, and calms agitated nerves. Externally, it is useful for rinsing sore throats and washing skin inflammations.

Sowing: Before sowing, linden seeds are stratified in moist sand for 3-4 months, wrapped in gauze and stored in the refrigerator. In the spring, seeds can be planted in pots. It is important that the young shoots do not freeze, so it is better to take the sprouted seedlings outside after spring frosts.

Seeds in a package of 3 pcs.
