A beautiful conifer with delicate shoots that, when rubbed, emit a sweet scent that is somewhat reminiscent of oranges.
Young shoots were used to make tea in ancient times.
The buds can be eaten, dried and ground; they were once added to flour when baking bread, pies, and cookies.
Can grow in any soil and practically in any moist place. Resistant to strong winds and prolonged drought. Does not tolerate polluted air, so it is not recommended to plant near major roads or in cities.
The tree grows large, under ideal conditions it can grow up to 45 m, but is usually around 30 m.
Seeds can be sown in autumn and stratified naturally, but can be sown in spring, soaked for 24 hours in water and then kept in a moist substrate for 30 days.
