Maple-leaf plane tree. Seeds. Platanus acerifolia.
Maple-leaf plane tree. Seeds. Platanus acerifolia.
Grows in average, moderately moist, well-drained soils in full sun. Prefers rich, humus-rich, constantly moist soils.
Able to adapt to soils of varying acidity.
The tree can grow up to 40 meters in natural conditions, but in northern regions, it will be more likely to be about 20 meters.
The bark is usually light gray-green, smooth and flaky, or light brown and not peeling. The leaves are thick and firm in texture, broad, palmate, somewhat similar to maple.
The young leaves are initially covered in fine, fine, stiff hairs in spring, but they fall off, and by late summer the leaves remain or are almost hairless.
The fruits ripen in about 6 months, reaching 2–3 centimeters.
The London plane tree is very resistant to atmospheric pollution and root compaction, and for this reason it is a popular urban roadside tree in western cities.
The tree is quite wind-resistant. The tree is easy to shape, but once it starts to do so, the shape must be renewed every year.
Sowing: Soak the seeds in water for 24 hours, drain and mix with wet sand to separate them from each other for easier sowing.
Sow in a pot. Cover the pot with a film to ensure even moisture, ventilating from time to time. The seeds germinate in the light, so you need to carefully monitor the moisture level in the pot.
Seeds in a package of 5 pcs.
