Leek de carentan 2.
Leeks are grown
from seedlings
because the time of vegetation is long enough, especially for this breed, which is late. Seeds for seedlings are sown from March to April.
If Purav has the chance to leave in the garden through winter, you can sow through the direct in the cavity starting in May.
Leeks are a cold-resistant plant.
The optimum growth temperature is 16-18C degrees.
Leeks also need a lot of light, moisture, lots of nutrients to grow as much as possible.
Sandy or clay-sandy soil suitable for growing leeks with a deeply irrigated arable layer. Very good leeks grow in lake and river slope soil, as well as in cultivated, limed peat soil.
Leeks are harvested from August to the end of October, when they begin to be slightly yellowed by leafy tips. The leek roots are highlighted with a garden fork and the roots of the fringes have to be trimmed. The leaves are cut obliquely within 10 cm of the ethiocheated dummy stem. They are used for soups. You can also make delicious soup from dried leaves in winter. Perfect for freezing.
If the leeks are scheduled to hibernate in the cellar, cut off the bojatted leaves, but the roots are not shortened. In the cellar, place the roots on a layer of peat or sand. Leeks store well at 0-2 C. They can also hibernate in the garden without being removed. As the frost begins, they must be covered with needles.
