Palla di Neve cauliflower. Seeds. Italian selection variety,
'Palla di Neve'. Italian national selection variety, originating from the Alto Adige region in the Dolomites and belonging to the 'Snow Ball' variety type.
Cauliflower, like all other vegetables, contains many vitamins, as well as iron, calcium, phosphorus; it is rich in iodine, which is especially important, since it is in short supply in the human body; the tartronic acid in cabbage saves from obesity, helps with gastrointestinal diseases. Cauliflower is considered a valuable dietary product. It usually contains more vitamins than cabbage.
Early, the variety grows on average 80 days after planting.
Forms medium-sized, white heads.
Tolerates cold weather well.
The optimal air temperature for cauliflower growth is 20–22 degrees, but the temperature for forming heads is 12–14 degrees, so cauliflower is much better for growing in autumn than in summer.
High heat first causes leaves to wilt, then prevents the formation of heads, so when growing cauliflower it is important to monitor the temperature, then everything will work out.
At the end of June it is not too late to sow early varieties and hybrids of cauliflower for harvesting in late September, October. In summer, seedlings can be grown within a month, the main thing is to regularly fertilize them with diluted fertilizer.
Under the influence of bright sunlight, the heads tend to acquire a yellowish tan. To maintain their snow-white color, the heads must be protected from excessive sun. This is done by breaking off older, larger leaves or even wrapping them with soft rubber - like hair. Farmers use special wide rubber bands, but at home, those bought at a stationery store will also work. It is better to tie with several rubber bands at the same time, because strongly growing leaves tend to tear them.
