Broccoli. Calabrese natalino. Seeds. Autumn variety.
The name “broccoli” comes from the Italian word “brocco” meaning “strong arm or branch”. The valuable vegetable has been known for over 2000 years.
Broccoli contains vitamins C, E, B group and carotene. Vitamins K and U are also found in small amounts. It contains a lot of minerals – calcium, iron and phosphorus. Broccoli is especially recommended for older people, as it contains substances that improve blood vessel health.
Broccoli is used in food in fresh, boiled, steamed and fried forms. It is used to prepare soups, sauces, pies, omelets, vegetables and other dishes. Fresh broccoli is added to salads. If you choose to boil broccoli, pour only enough water into the pot to cover the broccoli florets. Boil for 2 – 4 minutes. Even cooked broccoli should be bright in color and firm. However, it should be borne in mind that even when cooked properly, some of the valuable substances are destroyed. The most recommended way to heat broccoli is to steam it for 10-15 minutes.
Broccoli is the easiest to grow and fastest growing vegetable.
